After 20 years, Odysseus finally arrives home. When he comes home, he learns that suitors are after Penelope & Telemachus. They are trying to take Odysseus' place as king. Athena appears to Odysseus because his land is full of enemies when he was gone. Odysseus disguises himself as a beggar and finds his way to his trustworthy servant and swineherd, Eumaeus. Later, Athena appears to Telemachus. Athena advises him to return to Ithaca. His palace is overrun by suitors. They are demanding money and telling Penelope to marry one of them. Telemachus boards a ship to Ithaca, lands secretly home, and heads toward the cottage of the swineherd. After Telemachus' arrival, Eumaeus is sent to Penelope with the news of her son's safe return. Telemachus is brought to Eumaeus' hut. He sees an old beggar, who he does not know is his father. Odysseus reveals himself to Telemachus.
