After they escape the Land of the Cyclops, Odysseus and his crew land on Aeaea. Aeaea is the home of the witch goddess, Circe. The crew explore the island and reach the residence of where Circe was. She invites them to a feast. Odysseus leaves the ship and runs into Circe's hall where he encounters the god, Hermes. Hermes gives Odysseus a plant that will weaken any of Circe's sorcery. When Odysseus arrives to the feast, Circe's magic did not work because of the plant Hermes gave him. Circe realizes that Odysseus is her match and frees his crew. But Circe persuades Odysseus to stay with her, they feast for many seasons but, Odysseus and his men begged Circe to help them get back home. She listens to their pleas but only Odysseus is to go to the Land of the Dead alone. When Eurylochus led twenty-three men on the island of Aeaea the men encountered Circe. She invited them to the feast but, during the Feast Circe turns Odysseus crew into pigs.
